From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mount Forest was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Mount Forest post office opened in 1888.

We also found Mount Forest mentioned on a train schedule titled Michigan Central Railroad Time Tables (May 1892).
