At the time of the 2010 Census, Florence had a population of 29,951 people (or 25.21% of the total population of Boone County). This makes Florence the county's most populous community.

The population of Florence represents 0.69% of the population of Kentucky (which has 4,339,367 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 29,951 people, the population of Florence increased 27.18% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 23,551 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Florence was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Florence post office opened in 1830.
