Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Greendale had an population of 4,349 people. This is a decrease of 3.78% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 1.23% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Greendale had a population of 4,520 people (or 9.03% of the total population of Dearborn County). This makes Greendale the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Greendale represents 0.07% of the total population of Indiana (which has 6,483,802 people), making it the state's 126th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 4,520 people, the population of Greendale increased 5.21% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 4,296 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Greendale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Greendale post office opened in 1882.
