The location of Jay has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Jay, you might consider that their post office opened in 1880. While the community is gone, the present day location for Jay is 1,360 feet [415 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Jay was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Jay would have been located in the (706) and (762)<5> area codes.
