Welcome to Alpine ...So far, we found very little information about Alpine. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Alpine to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Alpine has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Alpine, you might consider that their post office opened in 1874. While the community is gone, the present day location for Alpine is 9,260 feet [2,822 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Alpine is 1¾ mile [or ~2¾ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Alpine was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time If Alpine still existed, it would have been in the (719) area code. Communities Also Named Alpine ...Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Colorado communities named Alpine: This one is located in Chaffee County and the other is located in Rio Grande County.
