The community of Sheridan is the Seat for Sheridan County.

Sheridan County was founded in 1888 and was created by taking area from Johnson County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Sheridan had a population of 30,485 people. This is an increase of 4.59% since the last Census (which gave a population of 29,148 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sheridan represented 5.17% of the total population of Wyoming.
