Welcome to Shad ...So far, we found very little information about Shad. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Shad to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Shad has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Shad, you might consider that their post office opened in 1899. While the community is gone, the present day location for Shad is 720 feet [219 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Shad was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Shad would have been located in the (304) and (681)<5> area codes.
