Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Mason had an population of 932 people. This is a decrease of 3.72% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.41% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mason had a population of 968 people. This makes Mason the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Mason represents 0.05% of the population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 112nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 968 people, the population of Mason decreased 9.02% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,064 people).

We originally found mention of Mason in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mason was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Mason post office opened in 1855.

We also found Mason in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
