While we don't have a date for the founding of Kenova, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Kenova: The name Kenova is a portmanteau<2> and it reflects the fact the city is located where the borders of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia meet.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Kenova has a population of 2,981 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Kenova had an population of 2,981 people. This is a decrease of 7.31% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 14.46% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Kenova had a population of 3,216 people (or 7.57% of the total population of Wayne County). This makes Kenova the county's most populous community.

The population of Kenova represents 0.17% of the population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 37th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,216 people, the population of Kenova decreased 7.72% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,485 people).
