The location of Florence has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Florence, you might consider that their post office opened in 1872. While the community is gone, the present day location for Florence is 2,800 feet [853 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Florence is about ½ mile above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Florence was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time The location where Florence once stood is in the (304) and (681)<5> area codes.
