Time Zone: Harrison County lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Clarksburg is the Seat for Harrison County.

Harrison County was founded in 1784 and was created by taking area from Monongalia County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Harrison had a population of 67,339 people. This is a decrease of 2.55% since the last Census (which gave a population of 69,099 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Harrison represented 3.73% of the total population of West Virginia.

While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
