Braxton County was founded in 1836. Braxton was created by taking area from Kanawha, Lewis and Nicholas Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Braxton had a population of 13,957 people. This is a decrease of 4.04% since the last Census (which gave a population of 14,545 people in 2010).
