While we don't have a date for the founding of Bayard, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Bayard has a population of 259 people<3> (see below for details).

Bayard is 2,350 feet [716 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Bayard is about ½ mile above sea level.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bayard had an population of 259 people. This is a decrease of 10.69% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 13.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bayard had a population of 290 people. This makes Bayard the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Bayard represents 0.02% of the population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 197th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 290 people, the population of Bayard decreased 3.01% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 299 people).
