While our initial data about Wind Lake came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Wind Lake in various books, maps and other sources. When we find a mention, a fact or snippet, we add that information to our Gazetter.

Wind Lake is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>

From that list:

The Wind Lake post office opened in 1852 and had closed by 1904.
