At the time of the 2010 Census, Plover had a population of 12,123 people (or 17.31% of the total population of Portage County). This makes Plover the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 12,123 people, the population of Plover increased 15.24% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 10,520 people).

We originally found mention of Plover in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Plover was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Plover post office opened in 1850.

We also found Plover in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
