At the time of the 2010 Census, Argyle had a population of 857 people (which is 5.1% of the total population of Lafayette County). This makes Argyle the county's 6th most populous community.

The population of Argyle represents 0.02% of the population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 1015th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 857 people, the population of Argyle increased 4.13% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 823 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Argyle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Argyle post office opened in 1847.

We also found Argyle in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
