Spokane County was founded in 1879 and was created by taking area from Stevens County.
From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Spokane had a population of 522,231 people. This is an increase of 10.83% since the last Census (which gave a population of 471,221 people in 2010).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Spokane represented 7.01% of the total population of Washington.
