The community of Wenatchee is the Seat for Chelan County.

Chelan County was founded in 1899. Chelan was created by taking area from Okanogan and Kittitas Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Chelan had a population of 77,053 people. This is an increase of 6.35% since the last Census (which gave a population of 72,453 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Chelan represented 1.08% of the total population of Washington.
