Chelan County was founded in 1899. Chelan was created by taking area from Okanogan and Kittitas Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Chelan had a population of 77,053 people. This is an increase of 6.35% since the last Census (which gave a population of 72,453 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Chelan represented 1.08% of the total population of Washington.
