Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Crewe had an population of 2,127 people. This is a decrease of 8.56% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 10.56% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Crewe had a population of 2,326 people (or 14.67% of the total population of Nottoway County). This makes Crewe the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Crewe represents 0.03% of the total population of Virginia (which has 8,001,024 people), making it the state's 91st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,326 people, the population of Crewe decreased 2.19% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 2,378 people).

We originally found mention of Crewe in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Crewe was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Crewe post office opened in 1888.

We also found Crewe in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
