The community of Tazewell is the Seat for Tazewell County.

Tazewell County was founded in 1800.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Tazewell had a population of 40,734 people. This is a decrease of 9.64% since the last Census (which gave a population of 45,078 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tazewell represented 0.56% of the total population of Virginia.
