Welcome to Alean ...

So far, we found very little information about Alean. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Alean to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Alean - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Alean, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Alean , we believe that it would have been located within present day Franklin County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Alean, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1911.

Time Zone: The area where Alean was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Alean to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Alean was on a map titled Map of Virginia (from Rand McNally, 1911).
