The community of Georgetown is the Seat for Williamson County.

Williamson County was founded in 1848 and was created by taking area from Milam County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Williamson had a population of 590,551 people. This is an increase of 38.53% since the last Census (which gave a population of 426,287 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Williamson represented 1.7% of the total population of Texas.
