The community of Clarksville is the Seat for Red River County.

Red River County is one of the original counties of Texas and was founded in 1836.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Red River had a population of 12,095 people. This is a decrease of 5.95% since the last Census (which gave a population of 12,860 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Red River represented 0.05% of the total population of Texas.
