Nueces County was founded in 1846 and was created by taking area from San Patricio County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Nueces had a population of 362,294 people. This is an increase of 6.48% since the last Census (which gave a population of 340,245 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Nueces represented 1.35% of the total population of Texas.
