While we don't have a date for the founding of Tazewell, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1888.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Tazewell had an population of 2,276 people. This is an increase of 2.61% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 5.13% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tazewell had a population of 2,218 people (or 6.89% of the total population of Claiborne County). This makes Tazewell the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Tazewell represents 0.03% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 159th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,218 people, the population of Tazewell increased 2.45% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,165 people).
