At the time of the 2010 Census, South Carthage had a population of 1,322 people (which is 6.91% of the total population of Smith County). This makes South Carthage the county's 2nd most populous community.
The population of South Carthage represents 0.02% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 214th most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 1,322 people, the population of South Carthage increased 1.54% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,302 people).
