How Far From Heads to ...
We spend a lot of time looking through Gazetteers that were published in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the Gazetteers include the distance from a community such as Heads to various places of note, such as the White House.
With a nod to our favorite Gazetteers and using the location of where the historic<3> community of Heads once stood, the straight-line distance beginning in Heads and extending to:
- Sparta, which is the Seat of White County, lies just to the East Northeast.
- Nashville, which is the State Capital of Tennessee, lies 69 miles [111 km]<1> to the west northwest (WNW). If you could walk a straight line from Heads to Nashville, with an average speed<4> of 2.2 miles [3.5 km] per hour, it would take three full days to make the trip.
