Sevier County was founded in 1794 and was created by taking area from Jefferson County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Sevier had a population of 98,250 people. This is an increase of 9.26% since the last Census (which gave a population of 89,923 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sevier represented 1.42% of the total population of Tennessee.
