Coffee County was founded in 1836. Coffee was created by taking area from Bedford, Warren and Franklin Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Coffee had a population of 56,717 people. This is an increase of 7.43% since the last Census (which gave a population of 52,796 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Coffee represented 0.83% of the total population of Tennessee.
