Time Zone: Cocke County lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Newport is the Seat for Cocke County.

Cocke County was founded in 1797 and was created by taking area from Jefferson County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cocke had a population of 36,017 people. This is an increase of 1% since the last Census (which gave a population of 35,662 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cocke represented 0.56% of the total population of Tennessee.
