Chester County was founded in 1879. Chester was created by taking area from Hardeman, Henderson, McNairy and Madison Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Chester had a population of 17,297 people. This is an increase of 0.6% since the last Census (which gave a population of 17,194 people in 2010).
