While we don't have a date for the founding of Roscoe, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1883.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Roscoe has a population of 290 people<3> (see below for details).

Roscoe is 1,830 feet [558 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: Roscoe lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Roscoe (for example, toward Wakpala), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Roscoe had an population of 290 people. This is a decrease of 11.85% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 10.49% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Roscoe had a population of 329 people (which is 8.08% of the total population of Edmunds County). This makes Roscoe the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Roscoe represents 0.04% of the total population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 201st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 329 people, the population of Roscoe increased 1.54% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 324 people).

We originally found mention of Roscoe in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Roscoe was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Roscoe post office opened in 1883.

We also found Roscoe in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
