With a 2010 count of 71 people, the population of Mound City decreased 15.48% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 84 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mound City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>
From that list, the Mound City post office opened in 1885.
