Time Zone: Jerauld County lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Wessington Springs is the Seat for Jerauld County.

Jerauld County was founded in 1883 and was created by taking area from Aurora County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Jerauld had a population of 2,014 people. This is a decrease of 2.75% since the last Census (which gave a population of 2,071 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Jerauld represented 0.25% of the total population of South Dakota.

While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
