While we don't have a date for the founding of Cottonwood, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1907.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Cottonwood has a population of 10 people<4> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cottonwood had an population of 10 people. This is an increase of 11.11% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 66.67% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cottonwood had a population of 9 people. This makes Cottonwood the county's 8th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 9 people, the population of Cottonwood increased 50% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Cottonwood was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Cottonwood post office opened in 1907.
