Welcome to Cascade ...

So far, we found very little information about Cascade. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Cascade to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Cascade - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Cascade, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Cascade , we believe that it would have been located within present day Fall River County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Cascade, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1882.

Time Zone: The area where Cascade was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Cascade once stood is in the (605) area code.

Adding Cascade to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Cascade was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Cascade post office opened in 1882.

We also found Cascade in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Cascade, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of South Dakota's counties, including Fall River, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
