Welcome to Bear Gulch ...

So far, we found very little information about Bear Gulch. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Bear Gulch to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Bear Gulch - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Bear Gulch, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Bear Gulch , we believe that it would have been located within present day Lawrence County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Bear Gulch, you might consider that their post office opened in 1878. The community was inundated by the Pactola Reservoir.

Time Zone: The area where Bear Gulch was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Bear Gulch would have been located in the (605) area code.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Bear Gulch was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Bear Gulch post office opened in 1878.

We also found Bear Gulch in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
