Aiken County was founded in 1871. Aiken was created by taking area from Barnwell, Edgefield, Lexington and Orangeburg Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Aiken had a population of 171,300 people. This is an increase of 7% since the last Census (which gave a population of 160,099 people in 2010).
