Indiana County was founded March 30, 1809. Indiana was created by taking area from Westmoreland and Lycoming Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Indiana had a population of 84,073 people. This is a decrease of 5.39% since the last Census (which gave a population of 88,862 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Indiana represented 0.7% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
