Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Shawnee had an population of 31,454 people. This is an increase of 5.35% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 9.63% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Shawnee had a population of 29,857 people (or 43% of the total population of Pottawatomie County). This makes Shawnee the county's most populous community.

The population of Shawnee represents 0.8% of the total population of Oklahoma (which has 3,751,351 people), making it the state's 13th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 29,857 people, the population of Shawnee increased 4.06% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 28,692 people).
