Welcome to Wards ...

So far, we found very little information about Wards. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Wards to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Wards - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Wards, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Wards , we believe that it would have been located within present day Columbiana County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Wards, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1901.

Time Zone: The area where Wards was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Wards would have been located in the (330) and (234)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Wards ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Wards: This one is located in Columbiana County and the other is located in Putnam County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 10 communities that are also named Wards - they are located in Illinois, Kentucky (2), Michigan (3), Missouri, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Wards, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Ohio's counties, including Columbiana, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>Area code (234) is an overlay for area code (330).
