At the time of the 2010 Census, Tontogany had a population of 367 people. This makes Tontogany the county's 20th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 367 people, the population of Tontogany has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (with a count of 364 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Tontogany was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Tontogany post office opened in 1857.

We also found Tontogany in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
