So far, we found very little information about Ridgeland. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Ridgeland to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Ridgeland , we believe that it would have been located within present day Henry County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Ridgeland, you might consider that their post office opened in 1850.

Time Zone: The area where Ridgeland was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Ridgeland still existed, it would have been in the (419) and (567)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Ridgeland ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Ridgeland: This one is located in Henry County and the other is located in Jackson County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 11 communities that are also named Ridgeland - they are located in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi (3), New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

We originally found mention of Ridgeland in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ridgeland was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Ridgeland post office opened in 1850.

We also found Ridgeland in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
