Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Piqua had an population of 21,339 people. This is an increase of 3.98% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 2.9% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Piqua had a population of 20,522 people (which is 20.02% of the total population of Miami County). This makes Piqua the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Piqua represents 0.18% of the total population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 80th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 20,522 people, the population of Piqua decreased 1.04% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 20,738 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Piqua was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Piqua post office opened in 1831.
