Welcome to Mexico ...

So far, we found very little information about Mexico. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Mexico to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Mexico - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Mexico, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Mexico , we believe that it would have been located within present day Crawford County<2>.

Time Zone: The area where Mexico was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Mexico ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Mexico: This one is located in Crawford County and the other is located in Wyandot County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 15 communities that are also named Mexico - they are located in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland (2), Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania (3), South Carolina and Texas.

<1>	We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Mexico, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 419 code has been Overlayed with the 567 area code. New phone numbers in the Mexico area will be assigned with one of these codes: 419 or 567. As a result, placing a call in the Mexico area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
