Welcome to Lyda ...

So far, we found very little information about Lyda. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Lyda to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Lyda - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Lyda, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Lyda , we believe that it would have been located within present day Athens County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Lyda, you might consider that their post office opened in 1889.

Time Zone: The area where Lyda was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Lyda still existed, it would have been in the (740) area code.

We originally found mention of Lyda in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lyda was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Lyda post office opened in 1889.

We also found Lyda in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
