Welcome to Huber ...

So far, we found very little information about Huber. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Huber to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Huber - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Huber, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Huber , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hancock County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Huber, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1881.

Time Zone: The area where Huber was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Huber ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 6 communities that are also named Huber - they are located in Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon and Texas.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Huber.

Adding Huber to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Huber in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Huber was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Huber post office opened in 1881.

We also found Huber on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1901).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Huber, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Ohio's counties, including Hancock, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
