Welcome to Heralds ...

So far, we found very little information about Heralds. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Heralds to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Heralds - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Heralds, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Heralds , we believe that it would have been located within present day Monroe County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Heralds, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1901.

Time Zone: The area where Heralds was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Heralds to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Heralds was on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1901).

<1>	We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Heralds, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 740 code has been Overlayed with the 220 area code. New phone numbers in the Heralds area will be assigned with one of these codes: 740 or 220. As a result, placing a call in the Heralds area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
