Welcome to Gardner ...

So far, we found very little information about Gardner. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Gardner to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Gardner - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Gardner, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Gardner , we believe that it would have been located within present day Morgan County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Gardner, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1851.

The Area Codes where Gardner was located: 740 & 220<3>

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Gardner, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Ohio's counties, including Morgan, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 740 code has been Overlayed with the 220 area code. New phone numbers in the Gardner area will be assigned with one of these codes: 740 or 220. As a result, placing a call in the Gardner area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
