While we don't have a date for the founding of Fenton, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1866.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fenton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Fenton post office opened in 1866.

We also found Fenton in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
